Andrea Luka Zimmerman was born in 1969 in Munich. She left school at 16 and moved to London at 22 to study Art. As a filmmaker and cultural activist, her approach calls for a reinvention of the relations between human beings, places and ecology. Her work underlines the importance of the social fabric of communities and reveals aspects of the experience of the working class and those living on the fringes of society. She directed the films “Erase and Forget” (2017) (premiered at the Berlinale), “Estate, a Reverie” (2015), and “Taskafa, Stories of the Street” (2013). “Here for Life”, directed with co-author Adrian Jackson, won the International Competition Grand Prix at the En ville ! film festival in Brussels and had its world premiere at the Locarno international film festival in 2019.
