EICTV, the International Film and TV School, is considered one of the world’s leading audiovisual training institutions. It was founded by the Committee of Latin American Filmmakers with support from the Republic of Cuba’s government, and was inaugurated on 15th December 1986. It is based outside San Antonio de Los Baños, in Cuba’s Artemisa province. Not far from Havana, it is built in a rural setting on the heights of a vast plain. Originally intended for Latin American, African and Asian students, the EICTV practices the “aprender haciendo” (learning by doing) teaching philosophy, with professors, all working filmmakers, who transfer their knowledge and skills using exercises and experiments. Today, students are welcomed from all over the world. Thousands of professionals and students from more than 50 countries have passed through its classrooms, making it a place of great cultural diversity.
