Paule Zajdermann graduated from the French Film School IDHEC in 1974. She then became an assistant director and scriptwriter for film and television. In 1984, she directed her first documentary, a portrait of Wim Wenders for the show “Etoiles et Toiles”. Since she began making documentaries, four themes stand out as being particularly close to her heart: children (“L’Incroyable Mr bébé”, “Tant qu'il y aura des bébés”, etc.), work (“Parole de chaîne”, “Bonne à tout faire”), literature (portraits of Doris Lessing and Patrick Modiano) and women’s issues (“Tu vas prendre des ailes, ma fille”, “Quand les femmes s'en mêlent”, “Judith Butler, philosophe en tout genre”, etc.). She has also made several TV dramas for French television. In April 2007, she joined the drama team at France Télévisions as a programme consultant, where she worked until 31st December 2019.
