“He was like a fly in a saucer of milk”. The saucer is the war in Yugoslavia, and the fly is Christian Würtemberg. To try and understand the intriguing, disturbing and tragic fate of her cousin, Anja Kofmel sets off on two journeys. One of them by taking a train, a real train, and going into the field – a fairly classic and efficient kind of investigation, seeking to read into the places any eventual traces of the past. The other journey takes place at her drawing board, portraying everything that can’t or can no longer be shown – a nightmare, death lurking, the evil in a man’s eyes… Animation films are like this: you can portray a fly and a saucer of milk, a ploughed field that turns into a knotted scarf, and it will speak of reality.
