Elvis Sabin Ngaïbino was born in the Central African Republic in 1985, and has a degree in Geology. In 2017, he was chosen to take part in the first Atelier Varan organised in Bangui. During the course, he made the short documentary “Docta Jefferson”, the portrait of a local pharmacist, which was screened at several international festivals. “Makongo”, his first feature, was presented and won three awards at the Final Cut of the Mostra de Venise in 2019. In 2020, he won two awards at the Cinéma du Réel in Paris (International SCAM Prize and the Bibliothèques Prize), and since then, has been selected to take part in numerous festivals such as the Bafici in Buenos Aires, Hamburg and the IDFA. In the wake of “Makongo”, he set up the CAR’s very first production company, Makongo Films, in Bangui in 2019 with his former professors Daniele Incalcaterra and Boris Lojkine as partners.
