Born in France in 1988, Ismaël Joffroy Chandoutis is living and working in Paris. He devopped a "cinematerial", a hybrid artistic practice that extend cinema to the sphere of contemporary art. His multidisciplinary works question the play, the technologies, the memory, the virtual and explore the image’s porous worlds. His projects were selected and awarded by numerous international festivals (Annecy, Clermont-Ferrand, IDFA, Hotdocs...) and displayed in many cultural centres, such as Paris’ Pompidou Centre, Shanghaï’s Pearl Art Museum, and Frankfurt’s Communication Museum. In 2017, his film "Dark Waves" received numerous awards in festivals, as well as his next film "Swatted" in 2019. In 2020 he directed "Maalbeek", his last film, selected for the Annecy Festival 2021.
