Nicolas Wadimoff was born in Geneva in 1964. His first film, “Le Bol” was presented at the Locarno Film Festival in 1991. After “Les Gants d’Or d’Akka” in 1992, he co-directed the feature drama “Clandestins” in 1997, crowned with numerous awards throughout the world. Since then, he has been working as both director and producer, producing films such as “Les Secrets de Raja Amari” (Venice 2008), “Fix Me” by Raed Andoni (Sundance and Cannes 2010) and “Ghost Hunting” by the same writer, winning an award at the Berlinale in 2017. After “L’Accord” in 2005, he shot “Aisheen” in 2009, which also won an award at the Berlinale. In 2012, “Opération Libertad” was selected at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. In 2015, he won the prestigious Prix de Soleure for his documentary “Spartiates”. “Jean Ziegler, The Optimism of Willpower” had its world premiere at Locarno in 2016 before being released in cinemas in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France. In 2018, “L’Apollon de Gaza” opened Locarno’s Critics’ Week and was selected for numerous festivals all over the world after being released in cinemas in Switzerland, France and Canada.
