Pierre-Michel Jean lives and works in Port-au-Prince as a freelance photojournalist and filmmaker. Founder and active member of the Haitian journalists collective (Kolektif 2D), he is a contributor to their magazine Fotopaklè. He studied Social Communication and Legal Sciences at the State University of Haiti and is a graduate of Haiti Reporters. His photographic work has already been shown in multiple exhibitions, both collective in Europe and New York, and personal in Port-au-Prince. In 2018, Pierre-Michel was awarded the Young Haitian Journalist's Prize for his work on the LGBTQI community's rainbow campaign. Since 2016, he has made a cinematic shift, directing Les guérisseurs de l'ombre, his first short documentary film that will be presented at the 2017 Festival Vues d'Afrique. Toro La Cou is the title of his first feature-length documentary on which he has been working since 2017. Pierre-Michel Jean is currently on a grant from National Geographic (Covid-19 Emergency Fund for Jounalist) and the Scam "Brouillon d'un rêve" for his next feature-length documentary.
