Yasmina Abdellaoui trained as a nurse before studying History of Art and Video Production in Liege. For several years, she worked in Bucharest for Terre des Hommes, a charity organisation promoting underprivileged children’s humanitarian rights. In “Gigi, Monica… and Bianca” (1996), she and Benoît Dervaux follow a gang of kids, including Gigi and his girlfriend Monica, who live/survive on the streets of Bucharest.
