This could’ve been just an account of a dance workshop, a few shared hours with a dancer and the elderly and sick. But Yann Coridian and actress and film director Valeria Bruni Tedeschi manage to make this encounter between two worlds into a humane and tender tale. Their unpretentious direct cinema reveals the generosity and humanity of Thierry Thieû Niang. The choreographer gradually warms up the muscles and hearts of people thought to be too old to come alive. He moves these improbable, awkward, almost absent partners. He literally carries them. And this physical movement rekindles the spark of life. It’s hard to forget Blanche’s face as she waits for Thierry to return. A reminder that one can dance – or love, for that matter – at any age.
